Shelf life is a minimum of 5 years unopened. A couple of tips to achieve long shelf life when opened – decant what you want to use right away, a good idea to “under estimate” what you want to use, use that up then tip out a bit more.
NEVER WORK OUT OF THE CAN and NEVER TIP BACK any used product !!! , as there could be impurities in the exposed oil (e.g. saw dust, dust in the air etc.) If the remaining oil in the can is not going to be used for a while, cut a piece of glad wrap a bit bigger the lid size, push the glad wrap down on top of the oil , then hammer the lid back on airtight – that way you should get 5 years to use that up as well.
ALWAYS USE A CLEAN BRUSH TO APPLY !!! Make sure there is no residue from any previous finishes left in the brush, especially the base of the brush. Clean up is Turps.
